How To Deal With Difficult People

Life happens, it's a bed of roses with the thorns, you get the softness with the prickings. When you have to deal with difficult people here are some valid points of intervention.

A course in Life Space Crisis Intervention or learning about Emotional Intelligence Quotient are great tools to have under your belts, it is good to learn how to de-escalate a situation that could get out of hand and also learn how to identify the real triggers that make people behave the way they do.

The focus here will be on how to deal with difficult customers on a daily basis. Customers here not only denotes external customers but internal customers also, meaning those who work with you in the same organisation and this includes your boss or supervisor/s.

Customers always remember when they receive excellent service, or if their issues are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner, so keep this in mind whenever you have to deal with an irate internal or external customer, how an issue is dealt with will determine how relations are between both parties moving forward.

 Stress is a natural part of our daily lives, once you have to make a decision, some level of stress is felt, whether it's deciding what to wear to work, what to eat, what mode of transport to take etc. These stresses are called good stressors, they do not or should not leave an individual catatonic and unable to move.

It is important that stresses are not exacerbated and taken so out of context that it takes you over and render you helpless, hopeless ready to give up! There are a number of ways to ease the stresses of life!

Take a breather:

There are times when you are faced with lots of things that require your attention, as a result making you feel overwhelmed. If at any point in time you are not able to find solutions, or there is just too much to do.

Money management refers to the process of tracking and planning an individual or group’s use of capital. In personal and corporate finance, money management usually includes budgeting, spending, saving, and investing.

To be money smart is a skill that needs to be acquired as this skill will help you to lead an almost seamless life of ease with minimal issues.

WORK WITH A BUDGET THAT SUITS YOUR SITUATION. It is good to have a budget that you work with. Income can be divided into parts this may differ depending on where you do your research 10% to Savings, arrangements can be made with your bank to do compulsory savings, 20% towards debt payments if there are any and 70% to live off for the duration until more income is generated. There is a saying that goes "Live Within Your Means", to do this individuals tend to spend all their income, but I prefer the saying by Kevin Trudeau "Live Below Your Means", when this is practised there is hardly anyway that you will overspend.

Renewable energy, often referred to as clean energy, comes from natural sources or processes that are constantly replenished

While renewable energy is often thought of as a new technology, harnessing nature’s power has long been used for heating, transportation, lighting, and more. Wind has powered boats to sail the seas and windmills to grind grain. The sun has provided warmth during the day and helped kindle fires to last into the evening

But over the past 500 years or so, humans increasingly turned to cheaper, dirtier energy sources such as coal and fracked gas (Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure which allows the gas to flow out to the head of the well.). 

Now that we have increasingly innovative and less-expensive ways to capture and retain wind and solar energy, renewables are becoming a more important source power. The expansion in renewables is also happening at scales large and small, from rooftop solar panels on homes and businesses, that can sell power back to the grid.

Sheanut Oil

Most, if not all individuals are familiar with Shea Butter, but the Shea nut Oil is not as popular, this very versatile aromatherapy oil is a marvel, it has all the benefits of Shea Butter in oil form!

Shea nut Oil is generally cold pressed from Shea nuts or fractionated from the Shea Butter as a by-product. This oil has been used for centuries, it’s first ever recorded use was from European explorers who visited Ancient Egypt.

This oil is used for a number of things and has numerous benefits. Note that unrefined Shea Oil has more stearic fatty acid in it and looks more creamy than oily, it has high viscosity.

Refined shea oil has a lower viscosity. It is a thinner oil it will liquefy at lower temperatures than coconut oil making it an excellent carrier oil for skin and hair care products.

Micromanagement

Micro management is not the answer to effectively managing your company, it has more cons than pros. As a manager, you have to determine when and how to micromanage. Here are some results of micromanaging your company. 

1) Do not be a Helicopter boss - Hovering over your staff after they have been given an assignment, does not give your staff a sense of freedom to do the tasks assigned to them. People tend to be more creative when they are given more autonomy, they feel able to make the best choices needed to complete a given task.

Train staff to be managers instead of workers, let them think like a manager as if they own the company, this will build their competencies, let them learn from the mistakes they make. Focus on what only you as a manager can do and do those tasks.

2) Breakdown of relationships is one of the result of micromanagement - Staff will feel that you can't trust them, that's why you keep such a close eye on them. Their sense of self will be greatly affected, and they will end up not liking you as their manager.

Do you know what you want to be or to do when you grow up?!!! “Umm, yes, no, I want to do a lot of things, I want to do everything as long as it makes me happy!”

If you find yourself being uncertain of what you want to do in life, what career path you want to follow, what your life purposes are, or you just simply want to do a lot of things,  you are what is termed a “multipotentialite”, you do not fit into any normal way of life or even thinking! Do not despair, you are not ALONE, or even weird!

The use of term is not popular, but I have heard one other person from Jamaica use it, Tami Chin, who has identified herself as a multipotentialite,  I was actually elated that I heard the word being used here, so I didn’t feel so alone with my knowledge!

Paper or No Paper That is the question

We have heard in recent years that we are moving towards a paperless society, I don’t know about that! Paper is so essential to our very existence, some of us have gotten so used to using paper especially for hygienic purposes, we don’t see ourselves going back to the “stone age”, although paper is made out of stone, but not for that purpose, or even the “leaf age”!

On a serious note though, there have been environmental concerns,with the hewning down of trees, especially the coniferous ones which are said to have the longest fiber,that helps to make stronger paper.

In ancient times, paper was made in Egypt from the papyrus plant and the paper was  named papyrus, and in some places animal hide was used.

With the onset of global warming because of the reduction of the trees and the increase of carbon dioxide in the environment, individuals have in their own way found solutions to help to offset these challenges and to balance the ecosystem?
